As part of activities marking the 2024 Press Week, members of the Kogi State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), embarked on a fitness walk in Lokoja.

Speaking at the end of the fitness walk, the state Chairman, Comrade Ademu Seidu, tasked working Journalists to be physically fit to discharge their duties diligently.

He commended Kogi Journalists for the massive turn out for the road walk, stressing that this will strengthen the bond among members in the State.

According to him, the demands of work, often leave little time or energy for physical activity. The walk, he added, is an opportunity for working Journalists in the state to keep fit.

“Ordinarily, we have little or no time for physical excercise. The road walk was a huge success.”

On the place of fitness in the life of working Journalists, Comrade Seidu, said “It is very important because Journalists need to be very fit and well because we are always on the move. This fitness exercise will make members work with ease and in good health. With the level of walk embarked on, we are good to go.

He acknowledged that this year’s Press Week has been very successful, adding that Journalists should keep up with the commitment to the Union activities in Kogi State.

Comr. Seidu, however, called on Journalists to keep to the ethics of the profession in the discharge of their duties, insisting that the place of Journalists in democracy, good governance and a better society cannot be overemphasised.
