Kogi State Government, has restated its committed to equipping and empowering young people with the knowledge and practical skills for economic growth and self-reliance.

A statement issued by the Information Officer, Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, James Sani, has revealed.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Anyebe, according to the statement, gave the assurance at a five-day workshop organised by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development at Satoff Hotel, Lokoja.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Momoh Azzez, the commissioner said the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, remained supportive of youth development and emancipation in the state.

He noted that the programme, which focuses on Solar Energy Systems, Welding and Fabrication, ICT and Digital Literacy, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), represents a deliberate investment in human capital development.

“Today marks the beginning of an important journey—one designed not only to transfer knowledge and practical skills, but also to empower individuals, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for sustainable growth and self-reliance,” he said.

“These training areas were carefully selected because they address both present and future economic realities. They are pathways to employment, enterprise development, innovation, and community transformation.”

The commissioner urged participants to approach the programme with commitment, curiosity, and determination. “Ask questions, engage actively, collaborate with one another, and make the most of every session. The value of this opportunity will not be measured by attendance alone, but by how effectively the knowledge gained is applied beyond this training.”

Also speaking, Project Manager at Thermolinks Concept Ltd, Sodiq Adepoju, said the workshop was organized to empower youth through training and employment.

He advised participants to take advantage of the opportunity to become self-reliant and contribute to the growth of Kogi State and Nigeria.
