Represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Magaret Oyibo, the first lady who was at the IDP camp at Gadumo and Specialist Hospital Lokoja, noted the need for immediate support, given the difficult conditions facing these mothers.

She explained that once she learned of their situation, she felt compelled to provide urgent assistance. Noting that as a mother she understands their conditions, and that has moved her to take action the moment she heard of their situations.

Hajia Ododo affirmed her commitment to supporting the women of Kogi State, including those in IDP camps. She expressed that her office is dedicated to ensuring that vulnerable and underprivileged communities receive aid.

She emphasised ongoing efforts to relieve financial burdens through programs and outreach initiatives aimed at improving lives and offering tangible support to those in need.

While reacting to this kind gesture the Chief Medical Director, Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Professor Isah Adagiri acknowledged the timely intervention of the first lady as these will relieve the families of the financial burden that comes with having preterm babies.

While speaking on the condition of the babies, the CMD stated that the mother and the babies were brought in after delivery at the IDP camps, they were preterm as the babies are twins and needed close medical monitoring.

He disclosed that the babies are being taken care of, as one is under close observation as the baby had jaundice on arrival and is being treated under close observation. He confirmed that the other baby and the mother are doing well.

Kogi State Emergency Management Agency’s Executive Secretary, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah, reported that after learning of the births at the camp, the agency quickly stepped in to ensure both mothers and babies received medical care.

The woman who gave birth to twins had them as preterm, and the agency had to bring them to specialist hospital for Medical attention and monitoring.

During her visit, the wife of the Speaker, Hajiya Zainab Umar, thanked the First Lady for her support and advised the recipients to make good use of the donations.

The mothers, Happiness Abraham and Halirat Isah, expressed gratitude for the assistance, saying it is a blessing that would ease the financial strain of giving birth in an IDP camp.
