The Kogi State House of Assembly, has called on relevant Government agencies and contractors handling the ongoing construction of the 23-kilometre Ogane-Inigu road in Dekina/Biraidu State Constituency, to ensure its timely completion and strict adherence to high construction standards.

The call followed a motion of appreciation moved by the member representing Dekina/Biraidu State Constituency, Hon. Ochidi Shehu, during Tuesday’s plenary in Lokoja, commending Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for initiating the vital road project.

Hon. Ochidi, while presenting the motion, described the project as a landmark intervention that would transform the socio-economic life of the people of Dekina/Biraidu and neighboring communities.

He stressed the need for proper supervision and quality assurance to ensure the road serves its purpose for generations.

“The people have waited decades for this project. It is not just a road but a major lifeline that connects communities, enhances access to healthcare and education, and promotes trade and agriculture. We must make sure it is executed with the quality it deserves.”

The lawmaker also commended the State Auditor-General, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, for his role in facilitating the project, and Dr. Ocholi Abdulrahman, an indigene of Ogane-Inigu, for his continued contributions to its realisation.

Ruling on the motion, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, applauded Hon. Ochidi for bringing the motion before the House and praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his commitment to rural development and inclusive governance.

The Speaker emphasised the importance of quality infrastructure delivery, noting that every public project must reflect value for money and the trust reposed in government by the people.

The motion was unanimously adopted by the House, with members commending Governor Ododo’s administration for spreading development across the state and urging contractors to ensure timely and durable completion of all ongoing projects.
