Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Odoodo, has given operators of Trailer Parks at Zariagi and Osara a grace of one-month to vacate the areas.
Governor Ododo, who gave the directive during the flag-off of the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KGSHIA ) ‘Access Cares’ programme in Lokoja, recently, explained that the move became necessary in view of the rising cases of crimes in those locations.
The Governor disclosed that recent intelligence reports have shown that the trailer parks in these areas have become a hideout for criminals masquerading as trucks drivers, adding that this poses a grave security risk to the communities in the areas.
Governor Ododo further said it is also part of his administration’s efforts to safeguard lives and properties of the people in the state.
“After the expiration of this one month period, no trailer will be allowed to park at these locations or in any unauthorised place within Kogi State, particularly during hours when movement is prohibited by law,” the Governor stated emphatically.
He pointed out that security agencies have been directed to enforce this order fully and without compromise.
The Governor added that the decisive actions are necessary to deny criminals any refuge and to further strengthen security operations across the state.
