KGSG commence rehabilitation of Kabba/Bunu water facilities

A team from the Kogi State Ministry of water Resources, has inspected water facilities in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area with assurances to commence rehabilitation and upgrading soon.

The state Commissioner of Water Resources, Engineer Yahaya Farouk, who led the team on the inspection to water sites in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, said the primary aim of the exercise was to access water facilities in the area.

According to him, there is an existing work on rehabilitation and upgrading of Kabba Water Supply Scheme, hence the need to ascertain the overall status of the work done for possible upgrading and expansion of the facilities for adequate supply of potable water to the people of the area.

The Commissioner lamented the level of vandalisation of water facilities and stealing of contractor’s materials from the sites.

He appealed to members of the community to take ownership of water facilities in their area by protecting them to complement the effort of the Government.

He noted that the tour was a technical inspection, saying from the discovery, additional works needed to be done at the sites, assuring that contractors will soon be mobilised to sites to commence work once the procurement process is completed.

Engineer Farouk expressed satisfaction with the exercise, assuring that the water facilities will be expanded to serve the larger population of the people of the areas.

In his remark, the Chairman, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Honourable Zachaeus Michael, appreciated the State government for priotising the welfare of people of the area, assuring the collaboration of security agents, youths and members of the communities to protect and prevent looting of water equipments.

The Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his effort to revive the Kabba Water scheme and promised the support of the communities to protect water facilities in the area.
