In a bid to safeguard all the power infrastructure in the Country, in line with the current reforms, Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, yesterday, met with the Inspector General of Police, (IGP), Tunji Disu, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The Minister, who was accompanied by his Permanent Secretary and other members of the Ministry, said the visit is to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force in order to safeguard national power assets.
While appealing to the Inspector General of Police, he first commended the police Force’s performance under the present administration, particularly under the leadership of IGP Disu.
Tegbe, during his speech, identified the vandalization of Power infrastructure as a major threat to the power sector, while calling for intensified surveillance of critical installations alongside sustained collaboration between the Ministry and the Police.

Responding, the Inspector General of Police thanked the Minister for his visit, saying, such courtesy calls are highly welcomed by the Nigerian Police Force.
He reaffirmed the police commitment to safeguarding critical national infrastructure, including power assets, bolstering energy security, and prosecuting vandals and other perpetrators of power-sector related crimes.
The Police Boss also expressed his willingness to work with theMinistry’s leadership to set up a Task Force on the protection of power infrastructure.
He, promised the Minister, of the Police’s full cooperation and support to protect the critical and attack-prone nature of power sector assets and personnel.
The engagement reflects the Ministry’s ongoing drive in securing the reliability of Nigeria’s power supply through stronger inter-agency collaboration in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
