From David Onuoja, Abuja

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, has kicked off the new year with a renewed commitment to staff welfare and a call to action for personnel to gear up for the 2026 electoral challenges.

In a New Year message, Amupitan described 2026 as a “season of renewal” for the Commission, urging staff to deepen their faith in the Nigerian project.

He highlighted the successful conduct of the Anambra State Governorship Election as a testament to the Commission’s resilience and dedication to the sanctity of the ballot.

Amupitan also outlined the Commission’s priorities, including the FCT Area Council Elections in February and off-cycle governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states, as well as preparations for the General Elections.
