*As Southwest Governors, Dangote, Otedola confirm attendance

Ijesaland is preparing for a historic moment as the official coronation of the Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, is set to hold on Friday, May 23, 2025.

The event is expected to attract top political and business leaders from across Nigeria and beyond.

The Vice Chairman of the Coronation Committee and Ajirowa of Ijesaland, High Chief Lateef Bakare, disclosed that Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, will lead five other Southwest governors to honour the monarch.

“The Owa Adimula’s coronation is not just a local affair; it is an event of national and global significance. Governor Adeleke will lead his colleagues from the Southwest to grace the occasion,” Bakare was quoted in a statement issued by Chief Shola Oshunkeye, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee.

He also revealed that several serving and former ministers have confirmed their intention to attend the ceremony, further underlining its importance.

The business community is not left out, as major players have pledged their support and presence. Among them are Africa’s richest man and Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, as well as billionaire investor, Femi Otedola.

“Owa Clement Haastrup is a giant in the business world, and it is no surprise that captains of industry are lining up to honour him. The presence of business icons like Dangote and Otedola speaks volumes,” Bakare added.

Assuring guests of a memorable experience, Bakare stated, “We are ready. We are doing everything humanly possible to ensure that all our guests enjoy the best of Ijesa hospitality. We will not disappoint our governor. We shall not disappoint Nigerians and the world. By the grace of God, the coronation will be a spectacular event.”

As preparations reach a climax, Ijesaland is set to welcome dignitaries and visitors for what promises to be one of the most colourful traditional ceremonies in recent history.
