From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Ifelodun Local Government Council of Kwara State, has imposed a 24-hour curfew across the entire Oro-Ago District as security agencies intensify operations to neutralise suspected terrorists in the area.

The Chairman of the council, Abdulrasheed Yusuf, announced the decision in a statement released early Wednesday through his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulquadri Jimba, and made available to journalists in Ilorin.

According to the statement, the curfew takes effect from 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, and is part of a coordinated security strategy aimed at restoring calm and protecting residents from emerging threats.

“The curfew is a necessary step to support ongoing clearance operations by security agencies and to ensure the safety of lives and property in Oro-Ago District,” Yusuf said.

He explained that the restriction covers all forms of movement within the district, stressing that both human and vehicular activities are strictly prohibited for the duration of the curfew.

“This measure will allow security operatives to effectively carry out their assignment without interference, as efforts are being made to dislodge elements threatening peace in the area,” the council chairman added.

Yusuf appealed to residents to cooperate fully with security agencies, noting that the temporary inconvenience is in the collective interest of long-term peace and stability.

He assured the people of Oro-Ago that the local government would continue to monitor the situation closely, adding that residents would be promptly informed of any review or update to the curfew as developments unfold.
