The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has received commendation from the Heavy Duty and Haulage Transportation Association of Nigeria (HDHTAN), Kogi State Chapter, for his efforts in ensuring ease of doing business in the state.

The commendation was contained in a statement signed by its Chairman, Trust Chukwuma, and made available to journalists, in Lokoja, kogi state capital.

The governor’s decision to bar road transport unions from daily collection of levies on the road has been particularly praised, as it aligns with HDHTAN’s partnership with the Federal Government to implement Presidential Order 001.

According to Trust, the governor’s initiative will lead to a significant reduction in food prices, enabling low-income families to afford necessities.

HDHTAN has also expressed its willingness to partner with the governor to ensure the success of this initiative, including whistleblowing on any organization or individual contravening the governor’s directives.

The association’s objectives include enhancing road safety, reducing accidents involving heavy-duty vehicles, promoting ease of doing business, and improving logistics and supply chain management.

To achieve these objectives, HDHTAN plans to collect daily biometric data of heavy-duty vehicles, monitor and evaluate progress, collaborate with relevant authorities, and educate the public on safe and efficient logistics and supply chain management.
