In a show of solidarity, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Odoodo, in neighbouring Ekiti State, commissioned some projects, including the 20.65 Km Ikree-Ilewa road and a renovated and equipped General Hospital constructed by his Ekiti State counterpart, Abiodun Oyebanji.
A statement by the Kogi State commissioner of Information and Communication Hon Kingsley Fanwo, a copy which was made available to newsmen in Lokoja has disclosed.
According to the statement, Governor Ododo commended his Ekiti State counterpart for his excellent performance as Ekiti State Governor, urging him to remain focused on serving the people. He also commended the people of Ekiti for standing resolutely by their Governor.
The statement reads, “It is an incredible honor to be here today to share in this historic moment in the life of Ekiti State. Today’s event is not just about commissioning projects; it is about celebrating vision, leadership, and the undying spirit of service to the people.
“Let me begin by extending my heartfelt congratulations to my brother and friend, His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, for the remarkable progress his administration has recorded in the last three years. The development strides across Ekiti State are visible, impactful, and inspiring and will surely be rewarded by the wonderful people of Ekiti State.
“Your Excellency, the transformation we see across the state, from infrastructure to health, education, and youth development, speaks to your clear vision, commitment, and love for your people.
“I am particularly delighted to be here to commission two very important projects, the Ikere–Ilawe Road and the Renovated and Equipped General Hospital, Ilawe-Ekiti. These are projects that touch lives directly and reflect the heartbeat of good governance.
“From what I have been briefed, the Ikere–Ilawe Road project began in 2022 under a self-financing arrangement, but could not progress beyond 15 percent before the change of administration. That this project is being commissioned today is a powerful statement, that when a leader is progressive, people-focused, and forward-looking, development continues regardless of political transitions.
“This 20.65-kilometre road, with standard drainage, culverts, stone base, asphaltic pavement, and modern design, is more than a link between two towns; it is a bridge to opportunity, growth, and prosperity for the great people of Ekiti State”.
According to the statement, governor Ododo equally commended his counterpart for the renovation and equipping the General Hospital, Ilawe-Ekiti stressing that the project underscores the Governor’s commitment to quality health care and his understanding that a healthy population is the foundation of a productive society.
Governor Ododo stated that these projects, along with many others across the state, are clear testimonies of governor Abiodun’s inclusive governance model and his resolve to leave Ekiti State far better than he met it just as he pointed out further that governor Abiodun have demonstrated that government exists to serve, to uplift, and to empower the people.
The Kogi State Governor, therefore urge the good people of Ekiti State to take ownership of the projects, protect them, and ensure they serve generations to come, emphasing the need for their unalloyed support to Governor Abiodun as he continues to deliver the dividends of democracy.
Governor Ododo pointed out that, “apart from my official relationship with BAO, I have personal relationship with him and I am convinced that he loves Ekiti and will continue to serve Ekiti with honour and integrity. For his humility, service and good heart towards his people, he is an indomitable asset to the progressive family. We are solidly behind him.
“I am particularly impressed with this feat, not just because Ekiti is our neighbor, but because Kogi and Ekiti share a history of unity and close ties. Thousands of our people live in Ekiti State and they have nothing but commendation for Your Excellency for your people-oriented programs, projects and policies. I have no doubt that you will continue this tempo till 2030”, Ododo stated.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who he said has renewed the hopes of Nigerians through his fearless policies and reforms. These policies he added, have strengthened the sub-nationals to provide infrastructure to the people at the grassroots.
