The age long epileptic power supply in Kogi East Senatorial District, would soon be a thing of the past as Kogi State Government has announced that it is now in the advanced planning stages to create an electricity transmission station to boost power supply in the area.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who desclosed this when he played host to stakeholders from Olamaboro Local Government Area in Government House, Lokoja, recently pointed out that it was a special project he took upon himself to ensure that a transmission station was established in Igala land.

The Governor expressed concern that the area with it’s large population and vast opportunities has being without stable power supply, a situation he described as,  “quite unfortunate”.

He however assured that his administration has taken it upon itself to provide the people of the area a transmission station.

In his words, “on the issue of electricity, it is quite unfortunate that the entire Igala Kingdom all this while, never had electricity. The day I got to know that Omala Local Government does not have light, I shook my head.

“There is no way to give electricity to the entire kingdom without having a transmission station. Nobody has ever thought of it.

“Your Highness sir, as we speak, it is a special project taken upon myself to make sure we have a transmission station in Igala Kingdom.

“Thank God, Mr President has approved it for us, the site has been picked and analysis is ongoing as we speak.

“So, if you want to get details of how far we have gone, call the Hournarable Commissioner for Rural Development.

“I am a complete kogite. The mandate that brought me here is not a family mandate, it is Kogi mandate”. The Governor further added.

On the issue of roads, Governor Ododo assured the people of Olamaboro that his administration has already captured all internal and township roads across the 21 LGAs in the state in it’s blueprint.

In line with this, he disclosed that every local government area would be given a facelift adding that the initiative would be carried out in phases. While encouraging the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Anyebe to interface with the Consultant handling the project for quick response.

Speaking on security, Governor Odoodo commended the people for their steadfastness and commitment to peace in the area; just as he pointed out that his administration would not relent in it’s determination to secure every part of the state against activities of criminal elements.

The Governor further promised to liaise with the state Commissioner of Police for the establishment of a Divisional police station in Ette community.

He used the forum to appreciate stakeholders and the people of the area for the support given his administration so far and urged them to continue to work for the overall interest of the Local Government emphasising that, ” if we don’t get best use of this opportunity, time will come and generations will ask us questions”.

Governor then appealed for unity and stakeholders engagement among the political office holders stressing the need for them to continue to give back to the society.

Earlier in their separate speeches, stakeholders from the area had among all other things, appealed to the governor for the construction of some critical roads which includes ; Ibana- Imane-Agbo- Apache road, Ogwugwu-Ofante and Adupi- Ofante road.

Chairman of the Local Government Area, Hon. William Amen, had lamented that, Okpo, the council headquarters, could not boast of good road network for two decades and as such, he appealed to the governor for urgent attention in the road sector.

Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and a son of the area, Hon. Monday Anyebe, assured the governor that the people of Olamaboro have adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Odoodo as their sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.

In his address, the Ejeh of Olamaboro and Chairman, Olamaboro Traditional Council, HRH. Simeon Ujah, had thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment of their son, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu as the Chief of Army Staff just as he appealed to the governor to facilitate the establishment of a Divisional police station in the boundary community of Ette.
