Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Odoodo, has advocated that late Mrs. Victoria Adeyemi, mother of Senator Smart Adeyemi, be immortalised in view of her service to God and humanity.

Toward this, the governor has suggested that the proposed Anglican School of Nursing be named after her.
The Governor also promised to make contributions towards the N50,000,000, needed for the take off of the project which is expected to commence sometime in June 2026.

The late Mrs. Victoria Adeyemi ( nee Ibilola), according to family source, was a devoted Christian from the royal family of Ilupa, who dedicated her life to the service of God and humanity, who left an indelible mark on those that came across her.
She died early June 2025 at Abuja at the age of 88 years.

Speaking during the funeral service held at the Saint Paul Anglican Cathedral, Iyara in Ijumu Local Government Area, Governor Ododo described the late Mrs. Victoria Adeyemi as a remarkable woman, a mother, a matriarch and a pillar of strength whose journey has touched many lives and whose legacies would endure for generations.
The Governor said late Mrs. Victoria Adeyemi lived an examplary life defined by hardwork, integrity and uncommon commitment to building a better future for her children and for the society while she was alive.

Just as he acknowledged that her transition was a testament that longitivity becomes truely meanifull when it is accompanied by life that uplifts others.
“A moment like this while we grieve, we must also reflect that Mama has completed her earthly assignment. It is now our responsibility to uphold the values she stood for and one of such value is unity.Unity in the family and unity in the community.
“I want to use this solenm moment to call on the Adeyemi family and all members of the larger house to remain united. Her legacy of peace, hardwork and togetherness must guide the family in the days and years ahead.
“Bishop I will be very happy if that school can be named after Mama. I am going to follow due process, I will contact the Commissioner of Education to please give us approval.
“If somebody has served diligently, we must remember them. Mama has served sincerely. I will follow it up with the commissioner of education and by the grace of God, the school will open with the name of Mama” the governor stated.
According to him, living to the age of 88 years was a blessing ; just as he described her life as one rich in purpose, impact and service to humanity.
He then used the occasion to call on the people of Okunland to collaborate with the State Government in the fight against insecurity in the area stressing that unity beyond political affiliation remains a critical tool for peace and development of the state.
Earlier in his address, Senator Smart Adeyemi, thanked the governor and others for the show of love and support during the moment of grief.
He appreciated the governor for his efforts and leadership style which he said has impacted positively on the state within his short time in office.He equally pledged continued support towards building a better kogi State.
