– As Kwara state partners with IHS towers on Tech Innovation

From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has expressed optimism that the ongoing Ilorin Innovation Hub, a flagship project of his administration, will drive significant technological advancement across Africa and create opportunities for millions of young people.

In a statement issued by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, it was disclosed that the project is now 95% complete.

Governor AbdulRazaq, emphasised that the delays in the project were deliberately aimed at ensuring strict adherence to high standards and specifications.

During his inspection of the project site in Ilorin, the state capital, the Governor, accompanied by the Managing Director of the Ilorin Innovation Hub, Temi Kolawole, assured reporters that the facility would rank among the best on the continent upon completion.

“Work has reached an advanced stage. I can tell you that once this place is commissioned, it will be one of the best in Africa, in terms of both its structure and the quality of its content. This hub is poised to significantly boost the tech ecosystem,” Governor AbdulRazaq stated.

He also highlighted the strategic partnership with IHS Towers, which he said would ensure the sustainability of the hub’s operations.

According to the Governor, the facility will be powered by solar energy to guarantee uninterrupted power supply, further enhancing its sustainability.

AbdulRazaq, expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, reiterating that the slow pace of work was necessary to guarantee the hub’s competitiveness across Africa.

“We are in the final stages; everything is almost ready. It is about 95% complete, and it’s better to take the time to get it right,” he said.

Temi Kolawole, the Managing Director of the Ilorin Innovation Hub, noted that the project would be transformative for the state’s economy, equipping the people of Kwara with globally competitive skills and integrating them into the global market.

In addition to inspecting the Innovation Hub, Governor AbdulRazaq, also visited the ongoing remodelling and reconstruction works at Kwara Hotels and the Government House access gate in Ilorin.
