The Kwara State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has deployed over 1,100 personnel and multiple patrol vehicles to ensure smooth traffic flow and road safety during the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations across the state.
According to a statement by the Public Education Officer, Basambo Busari, the special patrol operation will run from March 27 to April 2, 2025.
The initiative involves 650 regular personnel, 350 Special Marshals, and 120 first responders. Additionally, the FRSC has stationed 16 patrol vehicles, two power bikes, four ambulances, private tow trucks, and a 70-tonne tow truck at key locations.
The Kwara State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Mufutau Irekeola, emphasised the importance of adhering to traffic rules, warning motorists against reckless behaviors such as excessive speeding, wrongful overtaking, overloading, and the use of phones while driving.
“To prevent road crashes and ensure a smooth celebration, we are carrying out public enlightenment campaigns in motor parks, markets, churches, and mosques. Our officers will also be on the highways for special traffic control operations,” Irekeola stated.
He assured residents that emergency response teams, including ambulances and tow trucks, would be on standby to manage any incidents.
While wishing the people of Kwara a joyous Eid-El-Fitr, Irekeola urged motorists to prioritise safety.
“Only the living celebrate,” he reminded road users, urging them to drive responsibly.
