President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approval the release of N4.25bn for 158 university research projects under the TETFund’s National Research Fund (NRF) 2024.
Tinubu stated this at the 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremony of Modibbo Adama University (MAU), in Yola recently, saying that his administration is committed to promoting research and innovation for national development.
The president who was represented by Professor Kabiru Bala, former Vice Chancellor ABU Zaria, said, research and innovation are key drivers of national development.
“The approval of approximately N4.25 billion for 158 university research projects under the TETFund’s National Research Fund (NRF) 2024 Cycle, is also a reflection of our commitment to greater progress in these areas”, he said.
“We will continue to support initiatives that promotes excellence in these areas.
According to him, his administration had also increased funding for TETFund with notable allocation of N940.5 billion in 2025 budget circle.
“This will enable our institutions to upgrade infrastructures, laboratories, and career centre, thereby creating a conducive environment for learning and research”.
In a remark, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, of Adamawa state, congratulated the graduands and charged them to be good ambassadors of the university.
Gov. Fintiri however pledged to construct five kilometers road network in the university and other support for conducive learning.
