Executive, legislature collaboration key to good governance – Kogi Speaker

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf, has emphasised the need for continued collaboration between the Executive and the Legislative arms of government for impactful governance and progress of the state.

This is contained in a Press statement signed and made available to journalists by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed.

According to the statement, the speaker made the remark shortly after a meeting by the members of the State House of Assembly with the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in Lokoja.

The Speaker, the statement further added, described the sustained efforts by Governor Ododo to attract progress to Kogi State and ensure development of every part through the fight against all forms of insecurity as policies that require the support of every citizen.

He therefore called on citizens to continue to back the administration at all levels, in view of passion and commitment of Governor Ododo towards enhancing the current status of the state.

Rt Hon Umar stressed that both the executive and the legislature are products of one family lineage, hence the need to focus only on issues that would turn around the fortunes of Kogi people for the better.

He expressed optimism that better days were ahead for Kogi people, noting that members of the State House of Assembly were committed to doing their bit to ensure the state is taken to the next level in terms of provision of dividends of democracy.
