The new executives of the Environmental Correspondents Association of Nigeria (EMCAN), led by Chairman Joycelyn Adah, have met with immediate past Chairman, Mr. Amechi Oyema, as part of efforts to strengthen unity and drive the growth of the Association.
The meeting, held in Abuja on Tuesday, provided an opportunity for the new leadership to appreciate Mr. Oyema for his sportsmanship and commitment to EMCAN, particularly his role in ensuring a smooth transition.
Both sides discussed the future of the Association, with focus on strengthening EMCAN, promoting professionalism among environmental journalists, attracting more opportunities for members, and repositioning the body for greater impact.
Speaking during the meeting, Chairman Adah, thanked the former chairman for his openness and support. She reaffirmed the commitment of the new leadership to building an inclusive and stronger Association where every member has a role to play.

In his response, Mr. Oyema stressed the need for collective responsibility among EMCAN members to achieve both local and international recognition for the Association.
