Edolites defers downpour, troop out to elect their Governor in Edo

The Edo State citizens has this morning (Saturday September 21), trooped out to their various polling units to elect their next Governor of the state despite the downpour that occur this early morning.

According to a reliable information available to our correspondent who have been following and monitoring the election, said there was a massive and impressive turnout of voters across the state .

Residents at about 7:15am turned out in their numbers to exercised their Civic duties.

Some of the polling units visited within ward 12, showed that residents had trooped out early, signaling a strong desire to shape the future of Edo State.

The information further stated that there was Heavy rain downpour at Ward 4 polling center Oredo LGA Benin city where accreditation and voting took place despite the downpour.

Several civil society organizations who monitored the elections, among which includes YIAGA Africa and the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), commended the peaceful conduct and the large turnout of voters.

The Edo 2024 election is seen as a critical moment for the state, with three major political parties amongst others vying for the governorship seat in a race that will shape Edo’s political landscape for the next four years.
