ECOWAS assessment team pays courtesy visit to Gambia Bar Association

The ECOWAS Needs Assessment Team, in continuation of its broad consultations with critical stakeholders, has met with officials of the Gambian Bar Association and the Ministry of Justice in Banjul on Wednesday.

The General Secretary of the Gambian Bar Association (GBA), Mr Abdoulie Fatly, and the immediate President of the GBA, Mr Salieu Taal, were on hand to receive the team at the GBA office.

At the Justice Ministry, the team was received by the Solicitor General and Legal Secretary, Mr Hussein Thomas and other staff members.

Among the top team leaders are, Nigeria Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Solicitor General and Legal Secretary Ministry of Justice in Gambia, Mr Hussein Thomas, Chairman, Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone and President of ECONEC,  Mr. Konneh Mohammed and other members of the team at the Ministry of Justice.

Other visiting members are: Chinedu Chinedu, Senior Programmes Officer ECONEC; Mr. Okechukwu Ndeche, Consultant, International IDEA; Nathaniel Gana, Principal Information Officer, INEC; Mr. Abdoulie Fatly, General Secretary, Gambian Bar Association(GBA); Mrs. Helen Ajayi, Director, Planning & Monitoring, INEC and Mr Salieu Taal, Immediate Past President of GBA.

The INEC Chairman, also paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian High Commission while  in Gambia

According to a statement released from his Chief Press Secretary, Rotimi Oyekanmi, said, INEC boss was received by the Charge d’Affaires, Mr. Muhammad Marinasura Usman, alongside other staff members of the High Commission.
