The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and Member representing Ibaji State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba, has been ordained as a Deaconess of the United Evangelical Church (UEC), Ganaja Bypass, Lokoja.

The thanksgiving and dedication service, held at the church on Sunday, also featured the dedication of other newly ordained Deacons, Deaconesses and Elders, drawing worshippers, family members, political associates and well-wishers from different parts of the country.
Speaking shortly after the service, Deaconess Egwaba described her ordination as a divine calling and expressed gratitude to God for finding her worthy to serve in His vineyard.
She recalled that she had previously been nominated for the position but had not accepted it, noting that God’s purpose eventually prevailed.
The Deputy Speaker said the ordination was a memorable milestone in her life and an opportunity to contribute more meaningfully to humanity and the work of God .
According to her, the office of a deaconess is the highest position a woman can attain in the church, adding that true service in God’s vineyard is ultimately service to humanity.
Deaconess Egwaba thanked members of the church, friends and supporters who travelled from far and near to celebrate with her.
She also commended the Resident Pastor of the church, Pastor Victor Obaje, for his commitment to God’s work and prayed for greater strength and grace upon his ministry.
Speaking on the church auditorium project, Egwaba noted that the fundraising was not a new launch but part of an ongoing family-based support initiative aimed at completing the building.
She explained that the project had progressed from the foundation to the roofing stage and appealed for sustained support until its completion, praying that God would richly reward every contributor.
Earlier, the Resident Pastor of United Evangelical Church (UEC), Ganaja Bypass, Pastor Victor Obaje, described the service as unique and historic, noting that it was the first worship service held inside the church’s ongoing auditorium project.
He expressed gratitude to God for the progress recorded so far and appealed for continued support to enable the church complete the roofing and other outstanding works.
On the ordination, Pastor Obaje said the newly ordained officers had demonstrated commitment to God’s work before being recommended for the sacred responsibility.
He urged them to remain faithful to the oath of ordination, uphold the doctrines and practices of the church, and embrace leadership as a call to selfless service.
Pastor Obaje expressed confidence that their dedication would contribute to the spiritual growth and development of the church.
