Twenty-four hours dusk to down curfew has been imposed in Karim local government area of Taraba state, over a communal clash which threw communities of Shomo and Wurkum into trauma.

The Executive Chairperson of Karim-Lamido Local Government Council, Virginia Bambur, announced the imposition in a statement following the renewed communal clash in the area.

She declare the curfew on Monday through a statement. It stated that the measure is necessary to protect lives and property while efforts to stabilise the situation continue.

According to Bambur, the curfew which takes effect from Monday, 1st December 2025, will remain in force until further notice.

She noted that, “all movement and commercial activities across the affected communities, including the Karim-Lamido Local Government headquarters, are suspended as authorities work to restore peace.

“Security agencies operating within the Local Government Area, including the Military, Police, Civil Defense, DSS, and Immigration Service, have been directed to enforce the order and ensure full compliance.”

Recalling that, the ongoing wrangling between Shomo and Wurkun communities led to the wanton destruction of valuables worth millions of Naira.

Also four suspected terrorists in the area were neutralized last week by troops of the 6 Brigade in Taraba.

The fracas broke out barely a week after the newly elected chairperson of the council was sworn in by the Taraba state Governor, Agbu Kefas.
