From David Onuoja, Abuja

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), has given a nationwide warning, against what it described as fake Companies in Nigeria.

It stated this while declaring 15 companies operating with forged registration numbers as completely illegal and fraudulent.

‎CAC who placed a public notice on its official X handle, warned Nigerians to immediately cease all transactions with the below listed entities, revealing that the fake companies have been using counterfeit RC and BN numbers to defraud unsuspecting citizens and businesses.

‎This came due to some public complaints about dubious and suspicious corporate activities; to this, the Commission said that several of the fake entities have been linked to advance-fee fraud, phony investment schemes, and contract scams.

Ltd – Fake RC 297772, Purpleheart Construction and Real Estate Mgt. Co. Ltd – Fake RC 1210548, M/S Loktu Enterprises – Fake BN 373466, and Loktu Enterprises – Fake BN 400390.

Others are: Badatoyak Ltd – Fake RC 521322, Johnson Nats Limited – Fake RC 198492, Peoples Club Nigeria International – Fake CAC/IT/41191, Jiba Enterprise – Fake BN 577523, Civil Engineering Solutions Nigeria Limited – Fake RC 33001, Gabdoff Hotel Ltd – Fake RC 112409, Amoka Group – Fake BN 545221, BEEC Nigeria Limited – Fake RC 30143, and S. Adetunji – Fake BN 657466.

‎CAC emphasized that none of the registration numbers exist in its database, confirming that the companies were never legally incorporated.

‎“Any individual or corporate body transacting with these entities does so at their own peril,” the statement read.

‎The Commission equally directed banks, government agencies, and private organizations to freeze all accounts and contracts linked to the fraudulent entities while investigations continue in collaboration with law enforcement Agencies.

The CAC, has used this opportunity to sound warning to ‎Nigerians to always verify any company on the CAC public search portal (search.cac.gov.ng) before going into any transactions with companies.

‎Nigerians were also urged to demand for certified true copies of Certificate of Incorporation and Form CAC 1.1 before any payment; report any entity pressuring for urgent payment without proper documentation.

‎It therefore, said that any whistleblowers who provide credible information leading to the arrest of operators of these fake companies will be protected and rewarded.

‎This is the largest single exposure of fake corporate entities by the Commission since Registrar-General Hussaini Ishaq Magaji assumed office.
