From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The All Progressives Congress (APC), candidate for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Dr Rafiu Ajakaye, has pledged to deliver quality and people-oriented representation if elected into the House of Representatives.

Ajakaye, who is the immediate past Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, made the commitment on Wednesday during separate thank-you visits to APC members in Offa and Oyun Local Government Areas of the state.

He said the visits were to appreciate party members in the two local governments for supporting the decision to concede the federal constituency ticket to Ifelodun Local Government, which last produced a representative for the constituency in 1999.

The APC candidate was accompanied by the Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Femi Yusuf, and other party leaders and supporters from the local government.

Addressing party members, Ajakaye said he remained committed to giving the constituency effective representation and ensuring that his mandate, if given, would translate into tangible benefits for the people.

“I am irrevocably committed to representing my constituency well if elected. I will be your good ambassador. I won’t look down on party members, and I will not be ungrateful to you,” he said.

He also urged the party members to support all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, from the presidential to the state level.

The Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Yusuf, expressed confidence in Ajakaye’s ability to provide effective representation, saying his background had equipped him with an understanding of the challenges confronting ordinary Nigerians.

In Offa, an APC chieftain, Dr Hassan Oyeleke, assured party members that Ajakaye was a man of integrity who would justify the confidence reposed in him if elected.

Similarly, the Chairman of Oyun Local Government, Alhaji Suleiman Olatunji, described the candidate as an “honourable person” who would not disappoint the electorate.

Speaking in Oyun, the Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and candidate for Oke-Ogun Constituency, Hon. Ojo Olayiwola, alongside the council chairman, Hon. Kamal Akanbi, described Ajakaye as an honest and straightforward politician capable of delivering on his promises.

The APC members in the two local government areas subsequently pledged their support for Ajakaye and other candidates of the party in the 2027 general elections.
