Adamawa LG retirees receive govt attention

Adamawa state Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has pledged to release three billion naira (N3bn), to settle gratuities of local government retirees in the state

The Governor made the pledge during the Bwatiye 2025 worldwide Cultural Festival and Development Foundation Fundraising at Mahmud Ribadu Square, Yola.

Recall that the Governor, also made a pledged of N5 billion to settle gratuities for state retirees after a meeting with Adamawa state labour leaders.

According to Fintiri, the funds will be released in June, 2025

Speaking at the cultural festival, Governor Fintiri, who congratulated the Bwatiye people for successfully hosting the event themed “Culture and Development”, described it as timely and significant for fostering unity among the Bwatiye people.

While expressing appreciation to the Bwatiye community for their unwavering support over the past six years, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting unity and peace across Adamawa State.

Earlier in his address, the chairman of the occasion, Dr. Agbu Kefas, who donated fifteen million naira towards the fundraising, described Adamawa and Taraba States as “twin sisters” that share many things in common.

In a remark, Chief James Iliya, President Pene Da Bwatiye Development Association Worldwide, said the event was organised to celebrate the oneness of the people and promote shared prosperity and development.

The festival brought together government officials, politicians, technocrats, traditional rulers, and prominent sons and daughters of Adamawa, as well as guests from neighboring states and countries.

The two-day Bwatiye International Cultural festival, witnessed Bwatiye speaking people from Cameroon.
