Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has sworn in 21 newly elected People Democratic Party (PDP) Local Government Chairmen, charges them to impactful to their respective council headquarters.

Swearing in the council Chairmen recently in Yola, Fintiri equally congratulated all the 226 elected councillors and the people of Adamawa State for their continued faith in democracy arena.

He applaud the effort of Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), for conducting transparent worthy to emulate election.

He stated that his administration had successfully conducted four peaceful local government elections within seven years, describing the achievement as a milestone many states and previous administrations attempted.

Fintiri charged the newly sworn in officials, that the oath of office was a solemn covenant with both the people and God, stressing that they would one day account for how they discharged their responsibilities.

He charged them to become true representatives of government at the grassroots by making themselves accessible to their communities, working closely with traditional rulers and Development Area Administrators, and ensuring that government policies translate into meaningful development for rural communities.

Governor Fintiri issued a stern warning against absenteeism leadership, declaring that local government chairmen are elected to serve their people in their respective councils not operating from Yola.

“I wouldn’t like to see your individual faces here except on extreme official assignments.” Insisting that the era of absenteeism in local government administration was over.

He emphasised transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public funds, warning that citizens were now more informed and would demand explanations on how public resources were spent. He urged the council chairmen to reject corruption, prioritize development projects, and remain faithful to the trust reposed in them by the electorate.

Fintiri  congratulated the newly inaugurated chairmen and appealed to their families and associates to place minimal pressure on them as they begin the task of delivering democratic dividends to the people of Adamawa State.

Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn in Chairmen, Yola North local government council Chairman, Honourable Jibril Jimeta, credited their victory to Governor Fintiri’s record of human and capital development across the 21 Local Government Areas.

Jimeta described Governor Finitiri as a true democrat, a bridge builder, and a visionary leader, who has transformed Adamawa State within a short time. He highlighted that no previous leader in the history of Adamawa and the defunct Gongola State ever beat his record.

According to him, Fintiri has turned Adamawa into one of Nigeria’s emerging economies by bringing world-class development seen only in Lagos and Abuja into the state.
