Tension gripped Kara Market in Iyana Share, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, recently when a joint police–vigilante operation to arrest a suspected criminal turned violent, leaving one vigilante member injured and the suspect’s father dead.

The Kwara State Police Command, said the incident occurred in the afternoon of August 12, 2025, during a manhunt for a suspect identified as Bello Doti.

Police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi explained that trouble started when Bello’s father, Alhaji Doti, arrived at the scene and attacked a vigilante operative with a machete, inflicting deep wounds.

“In the heat of the confrontation, the assailant sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he was later confirmed dead,” Ejire-Adeyemi stated.
