FHC gives new directions for pre- election cases, urges public to take note

The Chief Justice of the Federal High Court (FHC), Abuja, Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, has announced the new Pre-Election Practice Directions, 2026, which he said repealed the one of 2022 version.

According to a press statement issued and signed in Abuja by Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, Director of Information, Federal High Court of Nigeria, said, the Practice Directions is aimed at enhancing the speedy, efficient, and fair determination of pre-election matters in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2026, and other applicable laws has been put in place.

The statement has therefore, urged the public, members of the Bar, Political Parties, litigants and any other persons it may concern that, the new order set out as a Pre-Election Practice Directions, has taken over the previous one. It said that, the current Practice Directions of 2026 supercede the former 2022 version of the Pre-Election Practice Directions.

The statement added that, the copy of the Federal High Court (Pre-Election) Practice Directions, 2026 is attached to this Press Release for the guidance of all
stakeholders.
