300 indigent Tertiary Institution students receives Scholarship Grant in Kwara

Three hundred indigent students in tertiary institutions from selected communities in Edu/Patigi/Moro local government areas of Kwara state, have received scholarship grant to support their education.

The Flagg off of the distribution, held in Ilorin, recently with the theme “Dangers of Drug Abuse Among Students In Tertiary institutions.”.

Speaking at the scholarship grant flag-off organised by Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies, in collaboration with member representing Edu/Moro/Patigi federal constituency of Kwara state, Ahmed Adamu -Saba, Honorable Adamu-Saba, said the distribution would be done in two phases.

Represented by his aide, Muhammed Salihu, the lawmaker said the Idea of the scholarship initiative is to support students whose parents can not afford to pay some of their bills in school.

Saba explained that some privileged students who are in school can also use the money to buy their books or pay their house rent .

In his address the Acting Director- General Michael Imoudu National Institute For Labour Studies (MINILS), Pastor Ezekiel Ayorinde, represented by the Chief Procurement Officer of the Institute, Hassan Surajudeen, said that the distribution of the grant is aimed at improving the educational standard of the students.

In his lecture “Themed Dangers of Drug Abuse Among Students In Tertiary Institutions”, the guest lecturer, Abdullahi Galadima, said from the available records youths have the tendency of indulging in drug abuse due to peer pressure among other reasons.

The beneficiaries of the scholarship grant  would be done in batches.
