The Deputy Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, RT Hon Comfort Nwuchiola Egwaba, has been conferred with the traditional title of Iganya Ata-Igala at a ceremony held in the historic town of Idah.

The title which was conferred on her by the Ata Igala, HRM, Matthew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa II, was in recognition of her selfless service to humanity.

The colourful event attracted friends, political associates and well-wishers who converged on the palace of the Ata Igala in Idah witness the conferment.

In her acceptance speech, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Comfort Egwaba, expressed gratitude to the Ata Igala for the honour bestowed upon her.

She pledged to continue her relentless efforts to enhance the wellbeing of members of her constituency, the state and nation at large.

The lawmaker also affirmes her commitment towards sustaining the rich cultural heritage of the area and state.

“I am highly elated for my conferment as the Iganya Ata-Igala. This Chieftancy title conferred on me is a quick reminder for us not to forget our cultural heritage. The preservation of our cultural heritage remains a cornerstone for the development of our society. Let all join our hands to build Kogi State and Nigeria at large through our rich tradition” she further pledged.

Meanwhile, the conferment of the traditional title, ‘Iganya Ata-Igala’ on the Deputy Speaker has been met with commendations particularly from the State House of Assembly.

Speaking at the reception ceremony, the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf thanked the Ata Igala and Igala Kingdom for recognising their illustrious daughter for the prestigious title.

He highlighted Hon. Hon. Comfort Nwuchiola Egwaba’s outstanding contributions to governance, describing her as a dependable ally who has contributed immensely to the development of Kogi State.

The Speaker equally used the forum to commend the people of Ibaji Local Government for producing “a woman of substance”, adding that, the Deputy Speaker was intelligent, accommodating and one with a lot of wisdom in approaching issues.

“This title is for the current Assembly and she is the one holding it for us. On behalf of the management of Kogi State House of Assembly, we want to thank you all for your solidarity and support. With what we have seen so far, we are now challenged to do more” he further added.
