Commends Emir’s inclusive leadership

From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), has extended warm congratulations to renowned legal scholar and philanthropist, Professor Yusuf Ali (SAN), on his recent turbaning as the first Kuliya Ngeri of Ilorin, by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

Speaking through a statement signed by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, Prof. Egbewole, described the honour as a recognition of Prof. Ali’s unwavering commitment to community development, legal excellence, and philanthropy.

Egbewole, who referred to Prof. Ali as a brother, friend, and a loyal ally of the university, noted that his track record of service to the Ilorin Emirate and humanity stands as a shining example.

He added that the conferment of the Kuliya title would further inspire Prof. Ali to continue his selfless service.

He also commended the Emir of Ilorin for his exemplary leadership and inclusive approach, which, according to him, has fostered unity and belonging among residents of Ilorin regardless of origin.

“The Emir’s decision to bestow such a prestigious title on a non-indigene is a clear reflection of his fatherly disposition and will further encourage other non-indigenes to contribute meaningfully to the progress of Ilorin,” Egbewole said.

He prayed for long life and a peaceful reign for the Emir and wished Prof. Ali continued success in his new role and professional career.
