The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole, SAN, has called on Muslims to uphold the virtues of Ramadan beyond the fasting period.
He emphasised that the true essence of the holy month lies in lifelong moral and spiritual transformation.
In a message signed by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor congratulated the Muslim community on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and the celebration of Eid el-Fitri.
He described the period as a time of renewal, urging Muslims to continue exhibiting the discipline, piety, and generosity cultivated during the fast.
He further noted that the lessons of Ramadan; patience, sacrifice, and compassion, should guide Muslims in their daily interactions, fostering a more just and united society.
The legal scholar, also reassured staff and students of the University of Ilorin, of his administration’s commitment to their welfare, urging continued cooperation for the collective progress of the institution.
Also, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, has congratulated Muslims in Kwara and across Nigeria on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.
In a statement issued in Ilorin by his Chief Press Secretary, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, Danladi-Salihu expressed gratitude to Allah for granting believers the strength to complete the month-long fast.
He commended Muslims for their steadfastness and devotion, praying that their acts of worship during Ramadan be accepted.
“It is important for us to sustain the lessons of love, kindness, charity, good neighborliness, compassion, selflessness, forgiveness, and tolerance learned during the sacred month,” he stated.
The Speaker extended his congratulations to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and the entire Muslim community in Kwara.
He also urged Nigerians to continue supporting leaders at all levels as they work towards delivering democratic dividends and improving the lives of citizens.
