*As new leadership emerges in Kwara

From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The outgone Chairman of the Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), in Kwara State, Pastor Moses Popoola, has called on the federal government to intensify efforts in curbing inflation and strengthening security across the country.

Speaking in Ilorin during the inauguration of new OAIC officers, he emphasised the need for economic stability and improved grassroots policing to protect citizens and foster development.

“The government must ensure that economic relief reaches the people. Petrol prices have dropped, but food and transport costs remain unchanged. There should be regulatory measures to prevent unnecessary price hikes,” Pastor Popoola stated.

While acknowledging the government’s security efforts, he stressed that more needed to be done, particularly in recruiting personnel and reinforcing community policing.

He also urged policymakers to reflect on past administrations’ successes and seek expert guidance in implementing policies that genuinely improve citizens’ welfare.

Evangelist Thomas Adeboye, the newly inaugurated OAIC Chairman in Kwara State, pledged to promote unity and discipline among member churches during his tenure.

Addressing the congregation, he described his election as a divine calling and assured members of an inclusive leadership style.

As the first Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) leader to head OAIC Kwara in 26 years, Evangelist Adeboye, admitted he was initially hesitant due to internal politics but accepted after seeking spiritual direction.

He assured members of his dedication to repositioning OAIC through development programs, seminars, and conventions while ensuring strict adherence to the organisation’s constitution.

“No one has the authority to collect money or issue registration certificates on behalf of OAIC without proper clearance. Churches wishing to join must go through the General Secretary’s office,” he warned.

Evangelist Adeboye also emphasised active participation in OAIC affairs by its representatives in the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

He called on OAIC members to support his administration through prayers, constructive criticism, and innovative ideas.

Evangelist Adeboye reassured the Celestial Church of Christ community that he would uphold their trust and work tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in him.

The OAIC Youth Wing Leader, Oyeniyi Seun, also expressed commitment to the organization’s progress, assuring members of an inclusive and forward-looking administration.
