2025 Budget : Kogi Speaker hails Ododo for commitment to accelerate devt

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf, has hailed Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering commitment to advancing all critical sectors of the state’s economy.

Rt Hon Yusuf, thanked the state Governor for his zeal to accelerate ongoing development initiatives in the state, just as he acknowledged Alhaji Ododo’s ‘unrivaled budgetary compliance and resource allocation to critical sectors in the 2025 appropriation bill’.

A statement made available to the media by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed, quoted the Speaker to have stated this on Monday in Lokoja shortly before the Governor assented to the budget.

According to the statement, Rt Hon Umar said the House took an objective and inclusive legislative consideration to the various provisions and expenditures on the 2024 budget approval and found out that Governor Ododo has done justice to all the financial approvals by the State legislature.

The statement further said, the Speaker, recalled that Governor Ododo, presented the proposed budget to the Assembly on the 3rd of December, 2024, as provided for by section 121(1) of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as Amended) during which he gave a detailed analysis of the proposed Income and expenditure of the 2025 Budget Estimate tagged Budget of Inclusive Development.

In the Speaker’s words, “Consequent upon the above, the House, in exercise of her duties as enshrined in section 4 of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, (as Amended) swung into immediate action by providing the required Legislative scrutiny of the various Heads and Sub-heads of the Year 2024 Budget Approvals and the 2025 Budget Estimates.

“After an objective and Inclusive Legislative consideration of the various Budgetary provisions and Expenditure on the 2024 Budget Approval; and the proposed Fund allocation as contained in year 2025 Estimates, the House finds it exceedingly expedient to commend your Excellency for your unrivaled Budgetary Compliance and allocation of Fund to most critical sectors of the state in year 2025.

“As I wish on behalf of the House, to commend your Excellency for your diligence on the State Finances in accordance with Budgetary provisions, it is my pledge that the House will in its usual spirit of Unity, provide the needed Legislative support in ensuring the achievement of the desired Inclusive Development of Kogi State while also appealing to your Excellency to spread your proposed inclusivity of Development in Kogi State to the various State Constituencies through the State Constituency Projects for the State Legislators.

“In the light of the foregoing, I am pleased and highly humble by this singular opportunity to present to your Excellency after dutiful Legislative Considerations and passage, the 2025 Appropriation Bill for your Assent.”
