First Lady of Kogi State, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, has emphasised the need for collective action to eradicate Gender-Based Violence (GBV),

While hosting Executive members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), and other women groups in her office on tuesday, she urged them to take the lead in this critical fight.

Hajia Ododo called for a unified approach to protect women and girls, particularly in rural communities where such cases often go unreported.

She highlighted her office’s ongoing sensitisation campaigns across the three senatorial districts, which focuses on grassroots advocacy and instilling core family values.

In her remarks, the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Mrs. Stella Edoka, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to championing issues affecting women, youths, and children.

She commended the First Lady’s grassroots advocacy, adding that NAWOJ members remain dedicated towards amplifying women’s rights issues through their platforms.

The Coordinator of the Kogi State Widows’ Association, Ojone Ojatah, also commended the Kogi State First Lady for her support for widows, including the provision of relief items such as food items and clothing.

Various women groups, including the Catholic Women Association, No Woman, No Nation, and the Ebira Avaibe Women Wing of Federal University Lokoja, lauded Mrs Ododo’s empowerment initiatives.
