The Secretary to the Government of Kogi State and founder of the Folashade Ayoade Initiative for Widows and Orphans (FAIWO), Dr Folashade Ayoade Arike has supported 158 widows and orphans across Kogi State with food items and cash as part of efforts to spread hope and joy this festive season.
The gesture which was part of activities to mark the organization’s quarterly intervention program, provided rice, wrappers, garri, salt, semovita, and seasoning to beneficiaries, ensuring they can celebrate Christmas with dignity and comfort.
The event, held recently, was spearheaded by the initiative’s founder, Pastor (Dr.) Folashade Arike Ayoade, who reaffirmed her commitment to addressing the challenges faced by vulnerable groups. She emphasised the importance of consistent support, especially during festive periods.
According to her, “widows and orphans often feel abandoned, but our goal is to remind them that they are not alone and that they are loved and valued”, adding that “Christmas is a season of hope, and through this gesture, we aim to uplift their spirits and make this period memorable for them”.
Pastor Folashade encouraged beneficiaries to remain resilient and grateful, despite life’s challenges. “Gratitude for life is the foundation of hope. Keep striving for a brighter future, knowing that God is always with you,” she added.
The beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude for the initiative’s support. Mrs. Musa Mariam, an orphan from Adavi Local Government, described the gesture as life-changing. “This assistance will make a significant difference for me and my family this Christmas,” she said.
Mrs. Comfort Folufashe, a widow from Yagba East, echoed similar sentiments. “FAIWO has been a lifeline for people like me. This support will help me provide for my children and celebrate the season with joy”
FAIWO, a nonprofit organization founded by Pastor Folashade, has consistently focused on addressing the needs of widows and orphans across Kogi State.
