From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

Residents of Kwara State have been encouraged to support government efforts aimed at transforming the state and making it economically viable.

The State Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Afees Abolore, made the call during a maiden public lecture in honor of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The lecture, themed “Legacy of Leadership: Examining the Long-Term Impact of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s Governance on Kwarans”, was organized by the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ilorin.

Dr. Abolore described the urban renewal and infrastructural development in the state as unprecedented.

He urged the people to take advantage of the government’s inclusiveness initiative to contribute their quota to the state’s progress.

“The initiative has given residents the opportunity to take ownership of project sites in their communities,” he said.

The commissioner further noted that Governor AbdulRazaq has successfully tackled the infrastructural deficit inherited in the state, laying a strong foundation for both present and future prosperity.

He added that despite the huge debt inherited and the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the state’s economy has remained stable.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the occasion, former Dean of the Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin, Professor Yusuf Badmas, represented by Dr. Abdulhamid Badmas, commended the governor’s leadership.

He urged the government to invest more in educational projects to enhance development in the sector.

Also speaking, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, highlighted the impact of the state’s inclusive governance initiative.

He assured residents of the government’s commitment to delivering more developmental projects.

Earlier, the Chairman of the NUJ Kwara State Council, Mallam Ahmed Abdullateef, said the lecture was organised to encourage wealthy individuals in the state to support the government’s development agenda.
