Gbenga Daodu, a native of Oka Akoko in Ondo State has narrated how his younger sibling, Daodu Stephen Olarewaju, had to flee Nigeria, following the insistence of Oka Akoko Ogboni Society, that he takes the place of his deceased father, who died January 2018.

Speaking to The Graphic, Gbenga Daodu explained how his nephew, who now resides as a refugee in a foreign land is on the wanted list of Ogboni fraternity till date.

The issue, he revealed became a serious one when the one year anniversary of the late father was to be celebrated in January 2019, when the fraternity group insisted that Daodu Stephen Olarewaju must replace his father because he was a high ranking member when he was alive

This, he said, was what led to my brother fleeing the country for an unknown destination.

Buttressing the ills of fraternity, he told The Graphic, that the fraternity had insisted that upon the demise of the father, his nephew, Stephen should be be made to replace him.

According to him, if his nephew should step foot in Nigeria, he will be picked by the cult group and pronounced a member, explaining that as things are for now, no one knows the exact whereabouts of Stephen.

He further explained that by his uncle’s  action, the entire family he left behind has been torn apart as the family is fear stricken because they have faced alot of harassment and constant threat which led to the death of Stephen’s mother.

Continuing, he said, the family does not know how far the group can still go in humiliating and causing havoc on the family.

He advised government to bring such evil cults under close scrutiny, adding that since June 2020, his nephew has been forced to abandon his source of livelihood to take refuge in an unknown land.

“No one will be in his shoes that will not be afraid because his choice was hinged on the fact that he is the first son of the deceased father, who was my uncle. He does not want to have anything to do with the society but the society won’t have any of that. So, he had no choice than to flee the country to safety”, he stated.
