The supplementary provision comes against the background of the initial 2026 budget of ₦901.84 billion for the State, while the 27 Local Government Councils had a combined initial budget of ₦288.85 billion.

Speaking after signing the legislation, Governor Namadi explained that the supplementary appropriation was necessitated by additional revenue that had accrued to the State and was subsequently presented to the State House of Assembly for appropriate legislative action in conformity with the provisions of the Constitution.

“This has shown that the State has an opportunity to execute more projects, as well as also the Local Government,” he said.

Governor Namadi commended the Speaker and members of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, for their dedication and commitment to the passage of the supplementary appropriation, including the speed with which the legislative process was concluded.

He similarly appreciated the Honourable Commissioners, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, as well as the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, for their commitment to the process that led to the supplementary appropriation.

Governor Namadi then called on all relevant government institutions and officials to ensure that the budget is implemented in accordance with the provisions of the law as assented.

“We thank all of you, and I call on all of you to ensure that this budget is implemented as assented.

“And also, I want to call on the State House of Assembly to continue with their oversight function so as to ensure that this Appropriation Act benefits the people of Jigawa State.”

In attendance at the signing ceremony were the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatim; the Secretary to the State Government; the Head of Service; the Chief of Staff to the Governor; members of the state executive council, principal officers and members of the State House of Assembly, among other senior government officials.
