Malachite TV, popularly known as MLC TV, has appealed to investors and partners for between N300 million and N400 million to expand its operations as it marked its fifth anniversary in lokoja
The Chief Executive Officer of BAVON Communications Limited, owners of MLC TV and Sharon Radio, Mrs Billie Avoyi Nwogu, said the funds would go into technology, infrastructure, content production and distribution to help the station compete in Nigeria’s crowded media industry.
One of its major ambitions, she said, is to secure carriage on major satellite and pay-TV platforms, including DStv.

We are open for business, we are open for partnership, and we are ready to grow, she said.
Mrs Nwogu said the investment would extend the station’s reach, improve production quality, create jobs and help it produce content that can compete nationally and internationally.
She admitted the journey had been hard, citing the high cost of running a media house and stiff competition from digital and social media. She credited the station’s survival to God’s faithfulness and the commitment of its workers, viewers and partners.

She disclosed that five years ago, they started this journey with a dream, a vision and a determination to establish a media platform that would inform, educate, entertain and connect our people.
The anniversary, themed “Prayer and Thanksgiving,” drew media professionals, government representatives, partners, viewers and staff.
Mrs Nwogu said the company was driven by a passion for broadcasting and a wish to serve society, not by the expectation of quick returns. She paid tribute to her late husband, Mr Emmanuel Nwogu, who she said helped lay the foundation of the business.

She disclosed that MLC TV had trained more than 50 young people in media and communication, and planned to expand training and job opportunities as it grows.
Mrs Nwogu also described Sharon Radio, another BAVON platform, as a business-focused station for discussing money, entrepreneurship and the economy.
Looking ahead, she said five years was only a milestone, and that BAVON Communications would keep strengthening its technology, journalism and content while creating more opportunities for young people.
She urged viewers to keep supporting the station and encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to take the first step.
Don’t be afraid to start. Start something. Once you start, the rest is history, she said.
