The business space in Nigeria is constantly looking for ways to scale in the technological way. For many Nigerian entrepreneurs, running a business increasingly means running several structures at once. Now that visibility is everything and everyone is looking for how to properly position in front of the right audience, you now need a website, social media, WhatsApp, ways to collect leads, follow up with customers, send emails, book appointments and keep track of sales. Then there is search engine optimisation, advertising, customer relationship management and, increasingly, artificial intelligence. The result is often a collection of subscriptions that do not necessarily talk to one another. Imagine if you have to subscribe to different platforms and still have to keep up with the real deal of running your business? This could be overwhelming where one platform handles email, another hosts the website, a third manages appointments, another fourth stores customer information, while there is also a need to automate the process. This is why many technological companies have gone ahead to develop an all-in-one digital marketing platform and this has become increasingly attractive to small and growing businesses.

A December 2025 comparison published by The Guardian Nigeria examined five platforms: GetResponse, Systeme.io, HubSpot, Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign. Its review considered pricing, automation, email marketing, landing pages, webinars and CRM capabilities, and identified different platforms as best suited to different business needs. In  2026 we decided to carry out a comparative analysis of 10 platforms in order to give businesses a clue at what they should go for based on their needs and the available information as seen from the websites of these platforms. This article takes that conversation further.

The platforms considered are:

  1. Hordanso Marketing Suite
  2. GetResponse
  3. Systeme.io
  4. HubSpot
  5. ActiveCampaign
  6. Mailchimp
  7. Brevo
  8. Zoho Marketing Plus
  9. GoHighLevel
  10. Keap

How we compared the platforms

This is an editorial comparison, not a claim that every platform performs equally for every business.

The assessment considers five broad areas:

  • CRM and lead management
  • Email and marketing automation
  • Website, landing page and funnel capabilities
  • Sales, bookings and customer management
  • Value and relevance for Nigerian SMEs

Where available, official platform information was prioritised for features and current product positioning. Independent comparison sources were used to understand how the wider market currently views these tools.

The Guardian’s earlier comparison is referenced as a source, but this article is independently structured and includes five additional platforms and a dedicated assessment of Hordanso.

Quick comparison: 10 platforms at a glance

Platform Major strength Best suited for CRM Automation Website/Funnels Nigerian relevance
Hordanso CRM + funnels + automation + digital infrastructure Nigerian SMEs, agencies, service businesses and entrepreneurs Strong Strong Strong Very strong
GetResponse Email marketing and automation Growing businesses Strong Strong Strong Strong
Systeme.io Funnels and digital products Course creators and online businesses Moderate Strong Strong Strong
HubSpot Enterprise CRM Sales and marketing teams Excellent Strong Strong Strong
ActiveCampaign Advanced automation Experienced marketers Strong Excellent Moderate Strong
Mailchimp Simplicity Beginners and small businesses Moderate Moderate Moderate Strong
Brevo Affordable multi-channel marketing SMEs and businesses with large contact lists Strong Strong Moderate Strong
Zoho Marketing Plus Wider business ecosystem Growing companies Strong Strong Strong Strong
GoHighLevel Nigeria Agency and client management Marketing agencies Excellent Excellent Excellent Strong
Keap CRM and sales automation Service businesses and consultants Excellent Excellent Strong Moderate

The table is deliberately not presented as a universal ranking. A platform that is excellent for an agency may be unnecessarily complicated for a small retailer, while an affordable email platform may not provide enough CRM functionality for a growing sales team.

1. Hordanso Marketing Suite: Strong all-round marketing

Hordanso deserves particular attention because it approaches the all-in-one market from a broader business technology perspective.

Its Marketing Suite is powered by GoHighLevel and combines CRM, sales pipelines, websites, funnels, email and SMS marketing, automation, appointment scheduling, forms, surveys and course hosting in one dashboard.

That is important because the real problem facing many small businesses is not simply a lack of marketing tools.

It is fragmentation.

A business owner may attract a customer through social media, communicate through WhatsApp, collect information through a form, schedule an appointment, send a follow-up email and eventually close a sale.

Hordanso’s proposition is to bring much of that journey into one system.

The platform’s current documentation says its Marketing Suite includes a GoHighLevel sub-account, website and funnel building, contacts and opportunity pipelines, email and SMS automation, appointment scheduling, forms and surveys and course hosting.

What makes Hordanso different?

The bigger Hordanso ecosystem goes beyond the Marketing Suite.

Hordanso.ng describes the company as a digital marketing and AI automation agency offering SEO, digital marketing, software development, AI automation and the Marketing Suite.

Hordanso.net also provides hosting, domains, WordPress hosting, VPS services, business email and other digital infrastructure. Its current platform also lists AI website builders and WhatsApp AI solutions among its broader offerings.

That gives Hordanso an unusual proposition.

It is not simply saying:

“Here is an email marketing tool.”

It is effectively building a wider digital infrastructure ecosystem around the business.

For a Nigerian entrepreneur who needs a website, domain, hosting, CRM, marketing automation, SEO and AI-powered business tools, that broader ecosystem can be attractive.

Who should consider Hordanso?

Hordanso is particularly worth considering for:

  • Nigerian SMEs
  • consultants
  • coaches
  • agencies
  • service businesses
  • educators
  • startups
  • businesses using WhatsApp heavily
  • entrepreneurs who need CRM and automation
  • businesses looking to consolidate several digital tools

It may be less suitable for someone who only wants to send occasional newsletters and has no need for CRM, funnels or automation.

Our view

Hordanso is one of the most interesting platforms in this comparison for Nigerian businesses that want an integrated digital business system rather than an isolated marketing tool.

Its biggest advantage is the combination of marketing automation with a wider digital infrastructure ecosystem.

2. GetResponse: strong Nigerian contender

GetResponse remains one of the strongest established choices for businesses that place email marketing at the centre of their strategy. Its capabilities extend beyond newsletters into landing pages, automation, webinars and other marketing functions. For businesses that depend heavily on email campaigns and lead nurturing, GetResponse remains a serious contender.

Best for

  • Growing SMEs
  • Email marketing
  • Webinars
  • Lead nurturing
  • E-commerce
  • Consultants and coaches

Verdict: A mature and well-rounded platform for businesses where email is central to the marketing strategy.

3. Systeme.io: Strong for courses and digital products

Systeme.io has built its reputation around helping entrepreneurs create online businesses without having to assemble multiple separate tools.

Its major attraction is the combination of funnels, email marketing, automation, courses and digital product functionality.

Best for

  • Course creators
  • Coaches
  • Digital product sellers
  • Affiliate marketers
  • Small online businesses

Verdict: An attractive choice for entrepreneurs whose business revolves around funnels, courses and digital products.

4. HubSpot: The CRM heavyweight

HubSpot is one of the strongest names in this category when customer relationship management is the priority.

Its strength is the integration of marketing, sales and CRM functions.

For a business with a dedicated sales team and a large volume of customer interactions, that can be extremely valuable.

Best for

  • Established companies
  • B2B businesses
  • Sales teams
  • Organisations with complex customer journeys

Verdict: Extremely powerful, but potentially more platform than a small business needs.

5. ActiveCampaign: Automation specialist

ActiveCampaign is designed for businesses that want sophisticated customer journeys.

A marketer can create workflows based on customer behaviour, interactions and other triggers.

An independent 2026 comparison of email marketing platforms also places ActiveCampaign among the major platforms competing in advanced email automation, alongside HubSpot, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Brevo and GetResponse.

Best for

  • Advanced marketers
  • Complex customer journeys
  • Behaviour-based campaigns
  • Businesses with experienced marketing teams

Verdict: Excellent for sophisticated automation, but beginners may need more time to master it.

6. Mailchimp: Simple and familiar

Mailchimp remains one of the most recognisable names in email marketing.

Its major strength is simplicity.

For a small business that mainly needs newsletters, email campaigns and basic automation, Mailchimp can be a practical starting point.

Best for

  • Beginners
  • Small mailing lists
  • Newsletters
  • Simple campaigns

Verdict: Easy to understand, but businesses needing deeper CRM and automation may eventually require more.

7. Brevo: A budget-friendly multi-channel option

Brevo has increasingly positioned itself beyond traditional email marketing, combining email, SMS, CRM and automation functions.

That makes it worth considering for businesses that want to communicate with customers through multiple channels.

It is particularly interesting for SMEs that need to control costs while maintaining a relatively broad marketing toolkit.

Best for

  • SMEs
  • Email and SMS campaigns
  • Businesses with large contact lists
  • Multi-channel communication

Verdict: A strong option for businesses seeking breadth without immediately moving into enterprise-level software.

8. Zoho Marketing Plus: The ecosystem approach

Zoho takes a different route from companies focused purely on marketing.

Its advantage is the wider Zoho ecosystem.

Marketing Plus can become particularly useful for businesses already using other Zoho applications.

Current industry comparisons continue to identify Zoho among the major all-in-one marketing and CRM ecosystems. Capterra’s September 2026 comparison, for example, lists Zoho Marketing Plus among leading all-in-one marketing software options.

Best for

  • Growing businesses
  • Companies already using Zoho
  • CRM-led organisations
  • Businesses seeking a wider suite of applications

Verdict: Particularly attractive when marketing needs to connect with a broader business software ecosystem.

9. GoHighLevel: Built with agencies in mind

GoHighLevel deserves a place on the list because of its strong focus on agencies, lead generation and marketing automation. It combines CRM, funnels, websites, automation, appointment scheduling and other marketing functions. Interestingly, GoHighLevel is also the technology behind Hordanso Marketing Suite.

Hordanso’s documentation explains that its Marketing Suite gives customers their own GoHighLevel sub-account configured for their business.

Best for

  • Marketing agencies
  • Lead-generation businesses
  • Businesses managing multiple clients
  • Advanced automation users

The platform is also gaining attention among businesses and professionals looking to understand how automation can improve their marketing and sales processes. As part of this growing interest, a free masterclass is scheduled for October 3, 2026 for real estate agents and others with a stake or interest in the real estate sector. The session is expected to provide an opportunity for participants to learn more about using digital tools, automation and modern marketing approaches in their businesses. Those interested in the masterclass or looking for more information about the event can visit events.ghl.ng and check the Events section for the latest details.

Verdict: Powerful, especially for agencies, but the learning curve can be significant.

10. Keap: Strong for service businesses

Keap has traditionally focused on CRM, sales and marketing automation for small businesses.

Its strength is connecting customer information with sales processes and automated follow-up.

That makes it particularly relevant to consultants, coaches and service businesses where a lead may require several interactions before becoming a paying customer.

Best for

  • Consultants
  • Coaches
  • Service businesses
  • Sales-led SMEs

Verdict: A strong CRM and automation option for service businesses, although its pricing may make it less attractive to very small businesses.

Which platform should you choose?

There is no single winner for every business.

Choose Hordanso if:

You want an all round digital experience like CRM, funnels, websites, AI and marketing automation together, and you value having access to a broader digital infrastructure and technological ecosystem.

Choose GetResponse if:

Email marketing, webinars and lead nurturing are central to your business.

Choose Systeme.io if:

You sell courses, memberships or digital products.

Choose HubSpot if:

You have a sales team and need sophisticated CRM integration.

Choose ActiveCampaign if:

Advanced automation is more important than simplicity.

Choose Mailchimp if:

You primarily need straightforward email marketing.

Choose Brevo if:

You want affordable multi-channel email, SMS and CRM capabilities.

Choose Zoho if:

You want marketing connected to a wider business software ecosystem.

Choose GoHighLevel if:

You run an agency or manage marketing systems for multiple clients.

Choose Keap if:

You are a service business that depends heavily on CRM and automated follow-up.

Our Final view

The digital marketing question for Nigerian entrepreneurs is  gradually changing from which platforms can send emails to more important questions like which platform can help me attract, capture, nurture, convert and retain customers without forcing me to manage a dozen disconnected tools?” This is the real promise of the all-in-one model.

The Guardian’s earlier comparison provides a useful starting point by highlighting five established platforms and showing that there is no universal solution for every entrepreneur.

But the market has become broader.

With Hordanso all in one suite, Brevo, Zoho, GoHighLevel Nigeria, Keap, and the rest, Nigerian entrepreneurs have more options than the traditional email marketing shortlist suggests.
