From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

Former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Kwara State, to close ranks, embrace reconciliation and work together to secure victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.

Saraki made the call in Ilorin, after returning to the state, where he was received by a large crowd of PDP supporters at the Ilorin International Airport, before proceeding to his residence to address party members and supporters.

According to his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, Saraki expressed appreciation to the people of Kwara for their continued confidence in his leadership and commitment to the development of the state.

He also commended party members and aspirants for what he described as their sacrifice, maturity and commitment to the PDP, particularly those who accepted the outcome of the party’s internal processes and supported the candidates that emerged.

Saraki urged members who parparticipate the various contests to put aside personal differences and remain focused on the broader interest of the party.

He equally praised PDP members for their accommodating attitude towards former members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who have recently defected to the opposition party across various wards and local government areas in the state.

According to him, the ability of the PDP to accommodate differences, reconcile competing interests and maintain unity would be critical to its success in 2027.

He said the party’s strength was not in individual ambitions but in its capacity to bring its members together and pursue a common political objective.

Some of the PDP National Assembly candidates who attended the meeting also spoke to the gathering, thanking the party leadership and members for their support and confidence.

The candidates pledged their loyalty to the ideals of the PDP and Saraki’s leadership, assuring party members that they would work collectively towards strengthening the party and securing electoral victory.

The gathering further underscored growing efforts to promote reconciliation and unity within the Kwara PDP as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections.
