The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kwara Area Command, DSC Sani Suleiman, has been honoured with the Best Anti-Smuggling Awareness Campaign Award at the Gala and Award Night of the 2026 Annual Public Relations Conference, held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The award, presented during the ongoing five-day conference, recognises Suleiman’s contributions to promoting public awareness against smuggling and strengthening the image of the Kwara Area Command through innovative and effective communication strategies.
Reacting to the recognition, Suleiman dedicated the award to the leadership of the Kwara Area Command, particularly the Customs Area Controller, whom he credited for providing the enabling environment that has inspired officers to perform at their best.

He said, “The visionary leadership and unwavering support of the Customs Area Controller, have continued to inspire the Public Relations Unit and the entire command. The renewed confidence and trust placed in officers have created an atmosphere where we can excel in our responsibilities.”
The award recipient also acknowledged the commitment of officers and support staff of the command’s Public Relations Unit, describing the honour as a reflection of their collective efforts and dedication.
He further appreciated the command’s management, officers and personnel for their cooperation and support, noting that their teamwork had been instrumental to the success of the command’s public engagement initiatives.
Suleiman equally commended journalists in Kwara State, for their sustained partnership with the command, saying their support had helped amplify anti-smuggling campaigns and improve public awareness.
“The consistent collaboration of the Kwara media has been invaluable. Their professionalism and commitment have significantly enhanced the visibility of our anti-smuggling campaigns, which contributed to this national recognition,” he said.
Congratulating its spokesperson, the Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara Area Command, described the award as well deserved and reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying public enlightenment campaigns aimed at discouraging smuggling and promoting compliance with customs regulations across the state.
