From Abdullahi Idris, Dutse
In continuation of defections into the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Jigawa State, Governor Umar Namadi, has again received prominent decampees from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), as the APC continues consolidating its followership stronghold in the state.

The latest entrants into the APC are Alhaji Sani Babura from Babura Local Government and Alhaji Mustapha Tankarkar from Sule Tankarkar Local Government, two prominent politicians in their respective areas, who arrived with party leaders and supporters from their respective areas.
The gathering at Government House, Dutse, reflected the growing momentum within the APC, with a noticeable presence of grassroots mobilisers and long-standing political actors who have played key roles in their communities over the years.

Speaking shortly after receiving the decampees, Governor Namadi, described the development as significant, noting that both individuals had spent close to three decades in the PDP before making their decision.
He stressed their influence and credibility, describing them as individuals with strong grassroots connections and a deep understanding of the political landscape.

Governor Namadi said the continued influx of new members into the APC reflects growing confidence in the party’s direction and leadership in the state.
The governor assured the decampees that they would be fully integrated into the party structure, stressing that there would be no distinction between old and new members.
“You will be treated equally with those who have been in the APC for a long time. There will be no discrimination, and everyone will be carried along,” he said.
He reiterated that the focus of his administration and the party remains the development of Jigawa State, particularly in creating opportunities for young people and improving the well-being of communities.
“We are looking at the progress and development of Jigawa State, especially our youth and our women,” he noted.
Governor Namadi also expressed appreciation to the new members for the confidence they have shown, assuring them that their decision would be worthwhile.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Alhaji Sani Babura and Alhaji Mustapha Tankarkar, stated that what motivated their decision to join the ruling party is the governor’s character, which they described as fair and just, as well as his leadership style that has led to the execution of numerous people-oriented developmental projects across the state.
They pledged to work assiduously for the victory of the APC at all levels in the forthcoming general elections.
