From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

A potential tragedy was averted in the early hours of Saturday after operatives of the Kwara State Fire Service swiftly contained a fire outbreak at Danialu Alapata Compound, off Gaa Akabi area of Ilorin.

The incident, which occurred around 2:11 a.m., affected a six-room bungalow, with two rooms badly hit before firefighters brought the situation under control.

In a statement issued in Ilorin by the spokesperson of the agency, Hassan Adekunle, the prompt intervention of the firemen prevented the inferno from spreading to other parts of the building and adjoining properties.

According to the statement, preliminary findings traced the cause of the fire to a power surge which ignited combustible materials within the affected rooms.

He also stressed the need for prompt reporting of fire incidents to enable quick emergency response, noting that timely intervention remains crucial in minimizing damage.

The fire service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state, assuring residents of continued vigilance and rapid response to emergencies.
