• prioritise party unity, growth of the state – Ododo

The Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has elected Engineer Aliyu Ezzu Momoh as it’s new state chairman.

This is even as Governor Ahmed Usman Odoodo, has charged the newly constituted State Working Committee( SWC), and other stakeholders to prioritise the party’s internal cohesion, growth of the state as well as the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Engineer Ezzu Momoh emerged as the State Chairman of the party through a consensus option during the Kogi APC State Congress which was held at the Muhammed Buhari Civic Center in Lokoja, Tuesday with Mathew Ojinika emerging as the State Secretary.

The congress, which followed the successful completion of ward and local government congresses, witnessed the presence of party leaders and delegates from across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

Other members of the new exco include; Aliu Suleiman (State Deputy Chairman), Dele Solomon (State Assist. Secretary), Akaba Abubarkar ( State Zonal Vice-Chairman l), Alhassan Ogwo, (State Zonal Vice-Chairman ll), Emmanuel Ayo, (State Zonal Vice-Chairman lll), Lawrence Daudu, (State Legal Adviser), Aliu Omaga, (State Assist. Legal Adviser) and Ibrahim Sheriff, (State Treasurer).

The list also has Hadijat Abdul, (State Assist. Treasurer), Shagari Yahaya, (State Organizing Secretary), Jonathan Segun, (State Assist. Financial Secretary), Hamza Ibrahim, (State Publicity Secretary), Abdul Yakubu, (State Assist. Publicity Secretary), Shaibu Amodu, (State Welfare Secretary), and Ismail Jimoh, (Assist. State Welfare Secretary).

Others are; Clement Otu, (State Auditor), Muhammed Sanusi, (Assist. State Auditor), Rabi Haruna, (State Women Leader), Habibath Musa, (Assist. Women Leader), Buhari Abdulrasheed, (State Youth Leader), Abdul Shuaibu, (Assist. Youth Leader), Yusuf Momoh Jimoh, (State Youth Leader l), Muhammed Baba, (State Youth Leader ll), Arogbele Olusegun, (State Youth Leader lll), Onotu Halimat, (State Women Leader l), Florence Toyin, (State Women Leader lll), Ohiare Muhammed, (Ex Official l), Ameh Richard, (Ex. Official ll ), Alhassan Idris, (Ex. Official lll), and Oluyemisi Babaniyi, (Ex. Official 4).

Addressing the party faithful, Governor Ahmed Usman Odoodo, expressed gratitude to the outgone executives led by Alhaji Abdullahi Bello for steering the party through a defining moment of transition to it’s present strength.

He equally used the forum to appreciate party members for the maturity and sportsmanship exhibited during the consensus arrangements.

“Kogi State is gradually becoming a state of our dreams, a state where we can see ourselves as one, a state where sons and daughters of Kogi State agreed without any pressure or any inducement in picking a seat at the table for us to pilot the affairs of our dear state, a very good example is what just happened, as can see, unlike before, some excercise of this nature can never be carried out in a peaceful manner like this without crisis”.

Ranging from the wards congress to the local government and today, that of the state, it went well in the overall interest of our party and in the interest of our dear state”.

Governor Ododo also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the National Working Committee of the party for their examplary leadership style which he said has contributed immensely to the continued successes recorded in the state so far.

The Governor further described the state congress as a litmus test going into elections in 2027 for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu promising that, kogi state would deliver 100 percent without any crisis.

He urged the new excos to see their new assignment as a call to service while at the same time urging them to be committed to the party’s internal cohesion and the growth of the state .

The governor went on to xpress his readiness to work with them for the overall progress of the state.

Earlier in his address, the outgone State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, expressed gratitude to former Governor Yahaya Bello and Governor Ahmed Usman Odoodo for giving him all the needed support during his time in office.

Looking back after over 8 years of his stewardship at the helms of the party, he said he always prided himself as the most successful chairman because the party has recorded tremendous achievements.

He appealed to all members of the party in the state to cooperate, support and encourage the new party executives to enable APC sustain it’s expansion while urging the new chairman to be a good listener as well as work diligently with his exco members for the overall interest of the party and the state.

The Chairman of the State Congress Committee,Alhaji Lawal Abdullahi, had earlier announced the outcome of the congress, as affirmed by delegates from the 21 LGA of the state.

According to him, all members of the new excos were duly screened by the committee and they were all fit for the various positions they are holding.He further expressed delight for the unity of purpose among members of the party in the.

Alhaji Abdullahi attributed the successful consensus arrangements to the existing unity and structure while urging other states to emulate Kogi State in order to build a stronger and united APC.
