Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), has embarked on a community engagement exercise with traditional rulers and strategic stakeholders across Ebiraland in a sensitisation and mobilisation campaign targeted at rallying support of the grassroots public on the need for credible and peaceful Local Government elections come Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The delegation was warmly received at the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRM, Alhaji (Dr.) Ahmed Tijani Muhammed Anaje, the paramount ruler of Ebiraland, who was physically present and offered prayers to invoke divine guidance for the electoral process and the state at large.
The visit commenced with a formal introduction of KOSIEC members to His Royal Majesty, highlighting the commission’s leadership and commitment to transparent elections.

In his opening speech and detailed electoral elucidation, KOSIEC Chairman, Hon. Mamman Nda Eri, outlined the newly enacted rules and regulations under the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission Law, 2025.
He emphasised the importance of adherence to these guidelines to ensure fairness, inclusivity, and credibility in the forthcoming polls for chairmen and councillors across Kogi State’s 21 local government areas.
The team went on to present electoral souvenirs, information guidelines, and other materials designed to educate stakeholders on the electoral framework. These resources serve as practical tools for royal fathers, community leaders, and aspiring candidates to understand nomination procedures, qualification requirements, campaign conduct, and compliance obligations.
Following the palace engagement, the KOSIEC team held a brief but impactful stakeholder meeting at the Okene Local Government Secretariat.
The incumbent Chairman, Hon. Ahmed Nuhu Enesi, personally received the delegation and expressed appreciation for their efforts in enlightening stakeholders.
He thanked KOSIEC for facilitating the sensitisation initiative, which he described as vital for preparing incoming candidates and ensuring peaceful, credible elections.
The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Chairman was also in attendance, underscoring the collaborative spirit among political parties and the commission.
The Chairman Enesi, in his remarks, highlighted the significance of the meeting in fostering understanding of the new electoral laws.
He drew attention to critical areas that prospective candidates must grasp and strictly adhere to, including proper screening processes, avoidance of electoral malpractices, and full compliance with the updated legal provisions to prevent disqualifications and promote integrity.
In his vote of thanks, Hon. Ahmed Nuhu Enesi reiterated gratitude to KOSIEC, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, traditional leaders, political stakeholders, and all participants. He called for continued cooperation to educate the electorate and maintain peace during the electioneering period.
The sensitisation tour reflects KOSIEC’s proactive approach to stakeholder engagement, particularly with traditional institutions and local government authorities, as the commission works to build consensus and awareness for successful polls in October 2026.
