Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Odoodo on Monday, launched two high-tech Security drones , where he again affirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state.

The two security drones, PH 20 UAS, and other advanced technological support assets were deliberately procured to confront terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and organised criminality head-on in the state.
The drones are equipped with advanced surveillance, monitoring and rapid-response capabilities designed to enhance intelligence-led security operations.

Similarly, the drones are equipped with AI- enabling features designed to enhance surveillance while at the same time embarking on flights above 4,000 altitude without being detected.
They also designed with JPS systems that can be programmed from the take off point to the target and back.

That is besides their ability to fly 50 kilometers with payloads, including more than four bombs to any targeted criminal hideout without being notice.
Speaking during the unavailing of the drones held at the Chari Megumeri Barracks in Lokoja, Governor Ododo, desclosed that the initiative was a critical step in sustaining peace and as well as flushing out criminals from the state.
According to him, the unavailing of the drones marks yet another significant milestone in his administration’s commitment to technology-driven fight against insecurity.
Governor Ododo said the HP-20 drones are equipped with advanced surveillance, monitoring, and rapid-response capabilities, enabling real-time intelligence gathering and precision-led security operations across difficult terrains.
“These priority drones have advanced surveillance, monitoring, and response capabilities. They can operate in difficult terrains, provide real-time intelligence, enable precision-led operations against terrorists, and offer early detection of suspicious movements,”
According to him, the deployment would significantly improve coordination among security agencies and allow faster, intelligence-driven deployment of forces across the state.
He desclosed that the investment marks a major leap forward in strengthening Kogi State’s security architecture, just as he pointed out that his administration remains resolute in its determination to protect every community.
“Let me be very clear: this administration will not falter. We will not surrender our communities. We will not allow bandits or terrorists to take over any part of our land. The government must be in charge not bandits, not kidnappers,” he declared.
The Governor further affirmed that his government was fully prepared to confront and defeat all criminal elements operating within the state, declaring that time was running out for those who were threatening public peace.
He acknowledged that the state’s forests and border communities had previously been targeted by criminal elements migrating from other regions explaining that his administration had studied these threats carefully and resolved to respond with action not excuses.
Governor Ododo further revealed that over the last two years, Kogi State had built a robust security framework anchored on technology deployment, community participation, inter-agency cooperation, and strong political will.
Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shuaibu, represented by the Director of Transformation and Innovation , Army Headquarters, Abuja, Brigadier General O.S. Abai , reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to Kogi State’s security.
He further disclosed that the recent establishment and deployment of the 21 Battalion Nigerian Army to the state was one of the strategic interventions tailored towards troop reinforcement and improved rapid response to security threats within the state.
Also speaking, the Commander, 12 Brigade Nigeria Army, Lokoja, Brigadier General, Kasim Umar-Sidi had described the deployment of the drones as a game changer, emphasising that the measure has placed kogi State at the forefront of security innovation and operational capacity.
