The Adamawa State Police Command, has arrested two suspects in connection with a renewed communal clash between the Bachama and Chobo communities in Lamurde Local Government Area, leaving three women brutally killed while clearing their farms.

On January 3, 2026, there was a reoccurrance of the mayem close to Tigno village, as victims identified as members of the Chobo community were allegedly attacked by assailants from the Bachama side. Police described the killings as part of escalating tribal tensions that have plagued the region.

According to Intelligence report, officers apprehended the suspects, both residents of Tigno village, William Joshua, aged 30; Ezekiel Luka, aged 23

The Command swift action in search of the suspects led to the recovery of dangerous items, including 29 rounds of live ammunition, one AK-47 rifle magazine, ₦90,000 cash, and other dangerous weapons.

Recalling that, the present clash comes weeks after a fragile peace accord was met late December 2025 following deadly clashes in the same area that resulted in multiple deaths, burnt down villages, and several destruction.

Earlier, the conflicts rooted in longstanding land disputes and ethnic grievances, had prompted government interventions, including curfews and security deployments.

The state police Commissioner, CP Dankombo Morris, appealed to residents for calm, assuring that the command is committed to apprehending all perpetrators and their accomplices.

“We are doing everything humanly and legally possible to bring those responsible to justice,” Morris made this known through Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

The suspects are currently assisting with investigations, with authorities promising further updates as the probe continues.

Residents and community leaders have expressed concern over the recurring bloodbaths, calling for sustained dialogue to address root causes and prevent further loss of life in Lamurde LGA.
